These have evolved over time due to changing needs and resources. Consequently for a UK time series there are significant gaps that were identified by the PelCap project (for example there was a complete lack of inshore zooplankton data).

Monitoring water quality and plankton across UK coastal and marine waters involves the joint effort and expertise of several government agencies and research institutes. These agencies work together to comprehensively cover the inshore and offshore regions of UK waters.
For each year of the project we have collected monitoring data, these reports summarise and highlight methods and findings.
